Coe’s Golden Drop
European Plum
Fruit ripening time: Late February
Often regarded as one of the best tasting plums, Coe’s Golden Drop is a plum with an excellent flavour. The fruit is very juicy, and the flavour is rich and sweet, with just the right balance of sharpness.
Large size, oval shape fruit. A clear, greenish-yellow skin and yellow flesh. Considered a medium cropper, however you will be rewarded if you choose the best location for planting, as this will improve crop yields considerably. A freestone variety.
Uses: Excellent when eaten fresh. Also great for cooking, preserves, jam and drying.
Storage: Stores well in the refrigerator for approximately 1 week – which for a plum, is considered a good home storage time. Plums generally have a short storage time once they are ripe. However, the fruit will ripen on the tree over a period of 1 to 2 weeks, ensuring that fresh fruit can still be enjoyed for a good length of time.
Coe's Golden Drop is Self-Sterile and requires pollination from another European plum variety. Flowering Group 3.
Pollinators: Angelina, Greengage, King Billy, D’Agen, President, Purple Gage, Victoria
