Prune D'Agen
European Plum
Fruit ripening time: Late February
A plum with a high sugar content and a dense flesh, making this the best plum for drying into prunes.
Also known as a sugar plum.
These plums are best picked when fully ripe, as the sugar content increases when left to mature fully on the tree. They will tend to hold well on the tree and not fall off when fully ripe.
The fruit are small and oval in shape. The skin is purple and the flesh is yellow. A freestone variety.
The tree is vigorous and is a prolific bearer.
Pollinators: Angelina, Coe’s Golden Drop, Greengage, King Billy, Purple Gage, Victoria
Uses: The best plum for drying (prune). Also lovely and sweet for fresh eating, preserves and baking.
Prune D'Agen is partially Self-Fertile, but will yield best when a pollination partner is present.
Pollinators: Angelina, Coe’s Golden Drop, D’Agen, Greengage, King Billy, Purple Gage, Victoria
