Geeveston Fanny

A very good eating apple with a mild sweet flavour. Geeveston Fanny is crisp and juicy, with an aromatic flavour and subtle subacid.

 

The small size of these apples makes them perfect for lunch boxes. The skin has a lovely red stripe over a pale-yellow background. The sunny side will have a beautiful sun blush. The flesh is white and crisp.

 

Geeveston Fanny is reliably heavy bearing and has a good resistance to black spot.

 

In 1970 this apple was a popular variety, cultivated in the town of Geeveston, Tasmania, where it gleans its name. Sadly, it is rarely found on the shelves of supermarkets nowadays. However, it remains a solid favourite for us here in our local community, in Geeveston.

 

Uses: A superb fresh eating apple. A lovely cooking apple, making an excellent apple pie. Good keeping qualities.
