Pyrus calleryana 'Capital' - Capital Ornamental Pear

A beautiful flowering tree with a narrow, columnar growth habit.

In early spring, when the new foliage is just emerging, the Capital Pear tree is covered in masses of small, white flowers that completely cover the branches and creates an amazing display!

The leaves are an attractive dark green from spring through summer, turning beautiful shades of vibrant oranges and reds in the autumn.

The narrow growth of this tree makes it suitable for use in small spaces, for use as a screening plant in hedges and to line driveways. For an effective screening, these trees can be planted close together, at 1.5 m spacings.

Tree Size: 10 m high x 2 - 3 m wide

Position and Care:

Capital Pear will perform best when planted in full sun, to part shade.

These pears prefer well-drained, moist and fertile soils, but are tolerant of a wide range of soil types. Once they are established, these trees are quite hardy and reasonably drought tolerant, however they will benefit from deep watering during dry periods to grow and look their best.

Fertilise with a slow-release fertiliser in spring for the best results.
