Fruit ripening time: March - April

An excellent sweet flavour, beautifully crisp and very juicy, with complex flavours reminiscent of the Cox’s Orange Pippin.

Freyberg is a cross between a Golden Delicious and a Cox’s Orange Pippin, and the flavour combination is very memorable! A refreshing, honey-sweet flavour, with hints of cinnamon and aniseed.

Small to medium sized fruit. The skin is green, ripening to a golden yellow with only a hint of blush on the sunny side. The flesh is cream coloured.

Uses: Superb when eaten fresh. Also great when used in salads, for apple sauce and in pies. Stores well in the refrigerator.

Pollinators: Akané, Belle Cacheuse, Braeburn, Cleopatra, Cornish Aromatic, Cripps Pink, Democrat, Fuji, Gala, Geeveston Fanny, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Kingston Black, Lady in the Snow, Laxton’s Fortune, Prince Alfred, Red Delicious, Splendour, Sturmer, Worcester Pearmain, and white flowering Crabapples.
