Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Nishiki Red’

Nishiki Red will provide excellent colour contrast in the garden. New foliage is bright, purple red, which becomes a very deep purple in summer. Autumn colours are deep red.

 

Adorned with clusters of small white flowers in spring, that contrast nicely with the bright spring foliage.

 

A neat, compact, deciduous shrub.

 

1 year old plants are approximately 10 - 15 cm tall

2 year old plants are approximately 15 - 30 cm tall

 

Plant Size: 2 m high x 1 m wide

 

Position and Care:

 

Nishiki Red will perform best when planted in full sun, to part shade.

 

Prefers well-drained, moist, fertile soils that are neutral to slightly acidic, but are tolerant of a range of growing conditions. Nishiki Red is a reasonably tough plant and is able to tolerate coastal sites, frost and dry periods.

 

Water in well after planting and water regularly while it is establishing. Water regularly during dry periods.
