Stallion Cherry Rootstock

Stallion is semi-dwarfing reaching 80 - 90% of seedling tree size

 

A semi-dwarfing rootstock that produces large crops of fruit. Stallion adapts to a variety of growing conditions, is suitable for general fruit and ornamental use and has good compatibility with all sweet cherry varieties (except Nordwunder).

 

Trees grown on Stallion will bear fruit in around 4 years.

 

Stallion is susceptible to drought, but will perform well in sandy soils with attention to watering and fertility. Stallion will also tolerate heavy soils as long as they are not waterlogged, and will perform better in heavy soil than Mazzard F12/1.

 

Mature tree height: 3.5 – 5.5 meters

 

Soil: Adapts to a wide variety of soils and conditions. Does not tolerate water logging.

 

Precocity: Medium

 

Support required: No

Grafting Grade - ready to graft this winter

Liner Grade - to plant out and grow on for budding in summer, or grafting the following winter
